1974 Chrysler Newport, 78k orig. miles. Runs smooth. Problem with starting car. Must keep pumping gas pedal to get engine to start otherwise engine keeps turning over and over and over without starting.
The car was tuned up...I am using Regular Gas. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

i'd check the carb float or rebuild the carb all together. Also check to see if the choke plate is closing when cold. With today's fuel and alcohol in it it may have eaten teh center of the float and the float won't work anymore causing your condition.
