1966 Chrysler Newport tachometer

1966 Chrysler Newport V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I just installed a tachometer from glowshift but I cant get it show the wright tach of the engine it has a swish on the back that i turned to 8 cyl but the numbers showing on the displei dont matsh the idle speed, what do I need to do to fix this problem....
Please exscuse mi writing i am Icelandic...:)

make sure it is turned to 8 and not 6. It may not be compatible with your ignition system either. I would check the ground and what side of the coil do you have it connnected to. Look over the installation instructions carefully you may have missed something.
