1989 Chrysler New Yorker Repair Question

1989 Chrysler New Yorker (wrong gas reading)
I have a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker. It Has over 98k miles with a 3.0 V6 engine. The problem I'm having is my car has a digital dash. It says I'm out of gas even when i fill the the tank up. Does anyone know what the problem is?

May be a ground problem or the sending unit in the tank may be bad would be my expaectations. More likely the latter.
