My heat suddenly dropped off to almost nothing. Assuming it to be the thermostat, I replaced it after flushing the radiator and engine block. Refilled it with coolant and water, but still almost no heat. It used to be great with heat. The blower motor is fine. After sitting in the car awhile and watching the needle temp gauge, it would only raise a fraction of what it used to heat up to, the fan would kick on (prematurely) and cool it back down to almost nothing before turning off. I replaced the cooling sensor in the top of the thermostat housing. Not the one to the gauge, but the one to the fan. Chrysler part # 5226374. This new part placed, it made no difference. I did accidentally drop the new part once, but it appeared fine. Anyway, still no heat. Any ideas? Oh, I also replaced the radiator cap just for the heck of it.

I suggest that u bleed the air out of the coolant system, you could have an air pocket up by the core. That will cause luke warm or sometimes no heat. If that doesn't work then have your engine coolant temperature sensor tested and replaced if necessary. Let me know what happens.

I will try bleeding the system if you know of any special tricks. The thermostat came with a pin that lets air pass through out of the engine. I also let it warm up wtih the radiator cap off after initialy refilling it with cooland in an attempt to make sure air was out. I replaced the temp sensor with a new one.
Any air bleeding tricks?
Thanks for the reply.
