2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - PCM trouble
4.7 L with 42 RFE transmission~Extremely hard downshift in any gear, at slow speed constant shifting up & down, at hwy speed & idle RPM is hunting.
On re-boot of PCM all is ok for 2 weeks. Initially had a fault code indicating a leak somewhere in the vacuum system. After searching every possible cause and replacing wear & tear items like the gas cap, purge valve solenoid, both pcv valves & leak detection pump. Chrysler reset the PCM to factory spec., & it ran great for two months.
They now recommend a new powertrain control module.
Any experience with this scenario?
