Transmission problem
2000 Chrysler Concorde 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 53000 miles

My engine light has just turned on today.. per the manuel it is stating the light is part of an onboard diagnostic system called OBD II which monitors the emissions engine and transmission control systems. I was told when I got my last oil change that I would soon need the serpentine belt changed.. does this belt have anything to do with the transmission or emission system? If not, what could I be looking at as to what the problem might be?

No correlation between the belt and CEL.

It is something that is affecting the emissions however. Codes are stored in the computer that need to be accessed and troubleshooting to begin.

The problem source can be many things, the codes are the starting point to narrowing down the source.
