1999 Chrysler Cirrus Repair Question

Car cranks but won't start
Engine Performance problem
1999 Chrysler Cirrus 6 cyl Automatic 192800 miles
My car cut off on me a couple days ago in the middle of traffic and would not start again. I had it towed to a shop where they replace the fuel pump and fuel filter but it still will not start. The mechanics don't know what the problem is either. I asked if it could be the timing. They say the spark plugs aren't getting any fire so it can't be the timing. Is that correct? My mother was having the same problem with her 94 Chrysler and her mechanics (different than mine) said her timing belt skipped and the timing is off now.

If the vehicle is still in the shop, I can't second guess from here? Fuel--spark--codes, whatever. I guess your saying it cranks good but won't start?
