The mechanics have replaced both right and left side rockers and lifters. I still have a knock that sounds like it is coming from the top of the engine. They do not know what the knock is. It increases with the engine speed. It also sounds much like a lifter ticking, but with a little deeper tone. The engine is a 3.5 v6. Any Ideas?

Hi, could be a wrist pin could be a cracked piston. Could be a worn cam. Could be a timing problem loose tension-er's or guides. Just a few thoughts. Thanks. Billymac

I am having the same problem. 2003 Town and Country 3.38. I decided since I needed to open the engine to simply do a full rebuild. Found oil starved and slipped connecting rod bearings and excessive carbon build up in number three piston. Nothing else major, lift rods were a little oil starved as well but undamaged. Did all the cleaning and replacing needed, put it back in the van and it fired right up, but the knock is still there!

Yes, this is caused by a seized wrist pin. I would remove the pistons and check each one. I just did this problem about two month ago.
