2001 Chevy Impala FWD-hub Assembly replacement

Just had thermostat replaced and dealer informed me that the front hub assembly needed replaced after they road tested it. How do you know when the assembly needs replaced and what level of difficulty is this repair for a DIY. Thanks

Thanks Techman1, I've been calling other shops and parts stores to get a better idea of the work and cost. I do my own oil changes and brake jobs so I'm not afraid of getting dirty just the thought of having left over parts after I'm done.

Working on your drive-way outdoors in 20 degree and below temps isn't fun. So I am hoping I can get under the car and reach the three bolts that hold the hub on and remove them quickly.
