1993 Chevy S-10 Blazer: 4.3 Vortec:

We just bought this truck from some friends of ours, so we know the use that has been done to it. The most that they did was go camping once ina while. It has been sitting for about 8 months. So far we have changed the oil, spark plugs, wiring harness, power steering, and battery. thinking it might be the timing if you can give us some suggestions. it starts but idles badly, but it wont stay running. there is a lot of smoke when it does run. what can we do?

What color is the smoke? I suspect black. You have a rich condition. If you have a check engine light on i need the code.

There is a flat sensor about the size of a cigarette lighter and it called a map sensor. It has a vacuum hose connected to the bottom with a connector on the side. It is probably mounted on the passenger firewall.

Make sure the vacuum hose is connected.
