1970 Chevy Truck Safety Swicth

When starting my C10 I had to hold up the gear shifter (automatic) to start it. Now it is not working. Where is the safety switch or what action should I take?

Could be just a linkage adjustment needed -for the NSS look at the side of t ransmission where the linkage is hooked up to-

Didn't see it there. There are no wires there. Could it be on the steering column?
