After driving on the beach in North Carolina the check engine light came on. When we took it in the entire air filtration system was clogged with sand. They unclogged it and put on a new air filter. (Not covered by warranty) Then the next day the check engine light came on again. This time the clutch for the fan was seizing up. They said that they were going to need to replace it. My question is how much more damage can the sand do to my truck. What else can I expect and will the mechanics be able to tell whether this is caused by driving on the beach?

A mechanic with eyes will be able to tell if its from the beach! If theres sand caked on the grease and on the engine and in the fan clutch and most likely the radiator, they will conclude that it was due to the sand that the item failed.

Depended upon what you were doing on the beach and how you were driving it I cant tell you how much more damage could be done, besides possible sand in the engine.
