My 2004 chevy trailblazer started running really rough at an idle. I took it to the dealer, they told me that the third cylinder is gone and I need to replace the motor. Does anyone have any suggestions or have you heard of this problem with the trailblazers?

what did the dealer tell you as far as what is wrong.what lead them into telling you it needed an engine.how did they diagnose it,what was wrong.the most common think I"ve seen is the valve guides wearing on these causing a missfire.I've replaced alot of cylinder heads on the 4.2L engines for the same problem you are having.this problem effects 2002-2006 models.there is a bulletin for this problem.what tests did they perform to come to this diagnoses.a cylinder leak down test would isolate this problem.a little more info would help, any dtc's,engine noises, etc.please post back.
