1999 Chevy Tahoe steering coloum


i had to replace my sterring coloum on my tahoe and i got one at a junk yard out of the same yr. model and make down to the color.so replace the old broke coloum with the new and now the engine wont start.my security light is flashing and when i try to start the car it trys to start then dies.do i have to reset the computer or something?can you reset the security feature to get it to run....?has anyone ever had this problem before?

Your key has a resistor on it, and the new column has a different resistor value. Put your key cylinder in the new column and it should do the trick.
