Chevrolet Surburban 1197 2500 [radio, a/c, tape deck, trailer brake added but cut, backup signal added] 95,000
I had one seriouis front-end collision when the radiator, etc., was replaced but this has developed two years later.
Intermittently, with no patern I can discern the ignition will not turn over the starter motor. It happens under all weather conditions, no particular geographic location, etc., sometimes twice in a few hours [parking, stopping the engine, trying to restart], sometimes not for several days, even a week.
When it happens, all the guages light up and indicate no problem. All the rest of the electrical system seems to be working -- windows, horn, lights, radio, a/c.
The first time it happened, AAA told me to shift into neutral and it started. It has not done that since.
I formerly tried to jiggle the switch, the steering, turn it off and on, etc., subnstituted the second set of keys, etc., but not with any effect.
But I have learned that if I just wait it goes ahead normally -- sometimes it will connect in a couple of minutes but usually it takes five to 10 minutes. It then proceeds normally. I have no difficulty on the road driving once it has started up.
