1986 Chevy Suburban V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 93000 miles
my 86 chevy K20 is knocking and pinging and I have never had a problem with it doing this befor on 87 octane I recently rebuilt the carb could it be running to lean or timing advanced to far?

you need to check mixtures , timing, vacuum leaks, distributor operation, start here.
