1988 Chevy Sprint stopping & not running until engine w

Electrical problem
1988 Chevy Sprint Front Wheel Drive Manual

engine stalls or stops, just as if it run out of gas. I can try re-starting and only can keep the enginge running for short periods of time by pumping the gas pedal. Eventudually it will re-start, but it can take several minutes before it will run well enough to proceed on my journey. I have replaced ther ingition module, spark plugs & wireing, distributor cap & rotor and replaced the battery, ,adjusted the valves, changed the fuel filter & fuel pump and am currently at a loss as to what to do next. Any suggestions as to what to do next?? I hate to let the little car die because of it's outstanding gas milage (50+ mpg). thanks Larry M.
