2004 Chevy Silverado speedometer

My speedometer is acting like it is slipping and will be reading about 30 mph less than what I am actually going. Where should i start to look to fix problem

The best place to start is by having the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) checked. Let me know what you find. Also, has the check engine light come on?

the stepper motor in the speedometer is the most likely problem. I sent mine to a repair specialist in Wisconsin and had new steppers put in. Takes about 10 minutes to pop off rim on dash and and four screws for removal. $180
