Why does the truck not start unless I pump the gas pedal first? When you first turn the key it makes a crunching noise for about a second.

Thanks

All pumping the throttle does with fuel injection is let some air in, it doesnt give it more fuel. Check the fuel pressure regulator, located on the drivers side of the fuel rail. It has a vacuum line that goes up to the intake, check for fuel present in the vacuum line. If there is any replace the regulator. If ok, you may need to put a fuel pressure gauge on it to verify good pressure. Is the check engine light on? If so have it scanned for codes, this may lead to the fix
