1996 Chevy Silverado R-134?

Just bought a 96 silverado Z71

Knew that the AC was out. But b4 I spend money on a new unit, compressor, etc. thought I would try to just fill it with new refrigerant. Will my truck take the R-134 or is the older type of freon?
