1996 Chevy Silverado #2 cylinder not firing

my truck is having trouble idling, it sputters and stalls when first started. but once it runs for a few minutes it idles fine. a mechanic says it's my # 2 cylinder. i was also told it was my cats but i have replaced those already.

so my question is how labor intensive is this going to be and does it sound like a correct diagnosis.

thanks alot, jeff

Have the coolant temperature sensor/idle air control valve and throttle position sensor checked-

If it was a dead cylinder it will not idle fine you're running with 7cylinders and it will misfire and be noticeable.
