I have the 4.3 liter V6 Vortec engine with fuel injection. In cold weather, it will turn over for a long time, finaly start, it feels and sounds like each piston fires once or twice, then it quits. It takes 2-4 times of starting and quitting to finally get running. I took it inot the automotive program that I participate in at school, and the spark plug gap is.010 greater. THe teacher said maybe fuel contamination, so I tried dry gas and it did nothing. I read something about fuel injectors or lines leaking and it takes a few key cycles to start. Thank you for you time and any help you can give me!

It only does this on cold start you say? Well if that is the case then I would check the coolant temp sensor, clean out the inside of the thottle body, check over the IAC and if you have a MAF clean it.

Please post back your results.

IAC is idle air control, it is located on the side of the throttle body, it controlls the idle.

Replace the coolant temp sensor and look also.

I messed around with the scan tool at school, and it has started fine, I cliked on a few diagnostic tests for sensors and what not. It seems to be working for now.
