1996 Chevy S-10 Timing Chain compleate change
Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 174960 miles
Hi,
I have a good question that I could not find in the archives on this problem.
At 168000 miles I finally replaced the timing chain both cam and crank sprockets and what was left of the tensioner the pinging was driving me crazy sounded like a small diesel engine.
After replacement the truck sounded like a new one again. But after approx 3500 miles it started getting louder again, and sometimes when the engine is cold it sounds good and after warm-up it is the same as it used to be.
Is there an oil port I should look for that may be clogged or something cause im sure it ate up the tensioner again.
Even changed the oil after replacement too.
Thanks,
Greg Frazier
