1996 Chevy S-10 cold start

I have a 96 s10 pickup with a V6. The problem that I am having is that it won't start cold. I have been having to use starting fluid to get it going.After it starts, it runs just perfect. I believe the problem has something to do with the choke or is something electrical. I would greatly appreciate any ideas you may have.
