I have a 1975 chevrolet nova my transmission had recently went out, and I had it replaced with a used transmission I purchased from a junkyard I dont know how many miles the transmission had on it, but I am wonderin I have been driving the car for about a week and it has been acting fine. Until this morning I tried to put it in drive and it wouldnt go forward or budge same goes for reverse. Could a bad transmission filter be causing this problem?

No, as a rule a filter won't plug that fast. There would be warning signs. First question, and it may sound stupid, but is the fluid level up? If yes, what color is the fluid, red or the color of coffee? My next suggestion would be to pull the trans pan off and see what is in the pan. You're looking for sediment, black specs or metal shavings. Yor transmission is a TH350 and it sounds like the low clutch has failed. If you don't want to, or can't remove the pan, it will have to go to a shop for diagnosis. Hope this helps.
