I have started to have some problems with my car recently, my RPM's never really get over about 2000 without my engine sounding like it is going to explode. Also I just got my coolant changed about a month ago and it is already a dark brown and the resevor is almost empty. Secondly my engine oil has been dissapearing as fast as I put it in, but it isn't leaving a huge puddle anywhere.

It slounds to me like a blown head gasket After engine warms up rev ur engine and look 4 white smoke indicating coolent being sucked into cyclinder and/or blue smoke indicating oil usage
At 158000 miles unless u used a good oil and changed regularlly ur rings r gone and needs a rebuild. I used only mobile 1 synthetic and my car has 204000 miles and does not use oil or water. Like the ad says pay me now or pay me later. U might get a compression check this will show condition of engine
