Electrical problem
1998 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 136000 miles

I just had another anti-theft box put in my lumina and my security light came on for about 5 minutes and then it went off today. Every since that security light came on and off, my car will start sometimes and sometimes it wont. Sometimes, if I let it sit for about a minute the car will start. I had my starter and solenoid replaced in 1-07. I was told that my car would make a clicking noise if the starter was bad and I try to start the car up. I had the battery and the alternator tested and they both came back good. My step-father, who works on cars, said that I might might have to hit the reset button some where in my car. Do you know what can possibly be the problem and do you know where I can find the reset button on my 98 chevy lumina?

My first question for you is can you read an automotive wiring schematic. If so if you do not own a manual for this car buy one that has the the cars complete schematic. Next find area of wiring that that the new theft box was installed. What your looking for is 1) loose connections 2) breaks or opens in wiring 3) hot to ground connections and or hot to hot connections.

It sounds like there has been some bad wiring done on your car.

If this helps let us no.
