Would like to Know major things mechanics look for on a safety check! Looking at buying a used vehicle for winter but want to know things to look for. It is a 89 Ford escort lx 4 with 94000 km.

Tires, brakes, any major leaks, all suspension components, belts, hoses, condition of all fluids. Then test drive to see if it makes any noises or has a driveability problem
