Protege 99 - Loud Squealing noise on startup
HI,
My 99 Protege makes a loud squealing noise on when it is started after it has been parked for two or three hours.
A mechanic attributed it to loose belts (not sure which ones) and tightened them but that hasnt helped at all.
Any ideas / help will be appreciated.

Most likely you need new belts...alot of times even tightening old belts will still end up with a squeal...Also using a low quality belt will have the same effect...you best off to use a good Mazda belt...or a gates belt...steer clean of poly cog, they tend to stretch
