My check engine light came on after my wife "topped off" the fuel tank after the pump had already shut off. I had the code checked and it came up as an emission code (not sure the exact code). My mechanic told me he cleared the code and it should be fine. The light came back on at first start the very next day. After that the light went off a few days later. It came back on again after I had refueled then parked in a place that was not level (car was tilted toward driver side which is the same side as fuel door). Now a week later the light will not go off and the car seems to run a little rough, and hesitates a little on mild acceleration. What are the possible problems? Is this an issue that needs immediate attention?
