Cruise control cuts in and out. After non-diagnosis by local shop, I checked the fuses and relays in fuse box under hood. I found several were not seated all the way. I pushed all down to seat properly and cruise worked fine for months. Now have problem again, and I re-seated relays and fuses. But problem resumes.

Unfortunately, Chevy fuse box and owners manual DOES not identify cruise fuse or relay. Help!

Use an electronics cleaner and dielectric grease on fuses, this should solve problem.

In addition to the above symptoms, the RPM's would increase 200-300 without a corresponding increase in speed. This condition occured in or out of "cruise" mode and frequently when car was cold. Cold weather seemed to make it worse. However, at times, after a warm up the cruise worked fine.
Frustrated, I took car to my shop. They discovered that the wire harness connected to the trans speed control sensor had corroded. They replaced wire harness and speed sensor. Works fine now.

Hope this helps those who were looking to replace the brake light switch. Perform electrical diagnostics on the trans speed sensor connector first.

Hello well first if its not any fuses than if your cruise control switch is on the colum on the left side, they call that a multi function switch which will go bad causing it not to work. You will have to take the colum apart to do this because the wires run down through to the bottom. I hope this will be of some kind of help to you.

Earlier this week, I was driving on the interstate, I touched the brake to take a ramp. When I hit the resume button the light for the cruise came on, but it did not hold the speed. I've checked the fuses (2 in the main box) and reset the computer. To no avil, it still doesn't work. Help! I drive for my job. Could it be the speed module?

I had the car scanned and no codes were recorded. My guess is something broke. But what do I look at first? Thanks for the help.

Check the brake light switch, it is also for the cruise and it might have stuck "open" so that the cruise thinks that you are on the brake

Well I've installed a new brakelight switch. However, the problem still exists. Could it be the switch on the steering wheel or something with the computer?

Could be either one, If all fuses are good then it sounds like some electrical diagnosis will need to be done. You have a meter and or test light?

First thing to do is check the brake light switch and make sure the brake lights are working mainly the high rise one aka 3rd brake lights.

Hello, intermittently my cruise control will disengage as I am driving down the highway with it engaged. When this happens you feel the car gives a little jerk and the dash light goes out for the cruise control. Its seems once this happens it will not work until you turn off the car and try it on the next trip. Also, sometimes when I go to turn on the cruise control it will not engage (no light on the dash board).I would say that the cruise control works about 75% of the time for turn on but fails probably about 30% of the time while it is engaged.

Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Thanks,
Scott

You will need a scan tool to check for trouble codes. The cruise module is loosing a signal from somewhere. Could be a brake switch, set switch ect. A scan tool will show this when it happends

Recently my cruise control light would come on on my dash lights, and the cruise would not work. It has stayed on for days at a time. I realized that at the same time that the cruise light was on (with the switch turned off) that my heater/AC system would not work at all. I could not change the air flow buttons, when turned on no air would come out, and even the light for the rear defrost would not work when pushed, the heating/AC system was completely out.

The strangest part; when the cruise light is off, the heater/AC works, when it is on the AC will not work, and then gone. I am assuming a connection in there.
Any suggestions as to what can be causing such a stir? I have had all of my fuses checked and they are all good. Also, I have recently put in a new battery in preparation for an Arizona summer.

Please advise!

This sounds like a BCM issue. I would try to get a sued one and plug it in to see what happens. Here is the location.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers

I took my car into the dealership and they told me that the problem is my ignition switch. Has anyone heard of this before? I am confused how those would tie together! Please advise.

I had the ignition switch replaced, and the A/C blower started working again. Still no cruise, but I can live with that.
