2003 Chevy Impala 3.4 engine won't start

I have a 2003 Chevy impala that intermittently will not start when the key is turned. If I push the gas the car will start, I am almost sure this is a fuel prime issue but i don't know how to check to see if the engine is getting fuel. Thanks for any help
