2005 Chevy Equinox installing an aftermarket stereo in the

The problem is that I was told that I need a $150 scoche interface adapter to wire this radio in. Is there any way to wire in this radio with some basic car wiring knowledge. Splices/ goaround tricks so that I can bypass this way overpriced device
