1978 Chevy El Camino Rust!
Brakes problem
1978 Chevy El Camino V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 130,00 miles
I have not even had a rear brake drum off before now. My Elky has been sitting for several years and everything behind the rear drums is rusted. The pads are still good. The dashboard "brake" light was lit. I sprayed the whole rear brakes with PB Blaster, expecially the area where the E brake cable was. The light went out after driving the car back and forth for a dozen feet several times. The petal feels mushy. The adjusters have thick rust on them. The rear end has a very slight "roaring' noise while car is driven. The brakes probably have the original 1978 brake fluid in them. Any recommendations? JB
