1972 Chevy El Camino Engine won't crank when hot at times

Electrical problem
1972 Chevy El Camino 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 125000 miles

My El Camino at times will not crank when the engine warms up. It does not overheat. Yesterday I started her up because i had not done this is 2 weeks, left her idling for about 5 minutes. I switched her off and wanted to start her up again and it did not crank. The generator light came on, I do not think its the battery(new).

I would appreciate some guidance on the problem.
