T-Top Repair

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, 1971, 100,000 miles,350 c.i.
I removed the chrome molding on my T-tops. The chrome part on the side of the tops had three or four screws holding the molding on. These screws were rusted and eventually the screw and the metal piece inside of the tops began turning.
How do I get the screws out? Cut them and allow the metal pices to fall inside the T-top?

How can I repair/replace/work around this problem when I get to the point of replacing the chrome molding.

On the picture, the screws are located just to the right of the red markers. (If the picture uploaded ok.
