Heater problem
2004 Chevy Colorado Two Wheel Drive Automatic 103000 miles

The truck is now working on its third heater core. I dicovered that at operating temp with the battery disconected. Using a DVOM between the engine block and the coolant that 0.56 volts is being generated in the system. I tried flushing the the cooling sys until it only has clean water in it but the same problem persists. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

What kind of cores do you keep puting in it? Brass copper or aluminum?

Have you checked all of your ground levels? Also if you use the wrong tyope of coolant you can cause the vehicle to corrode out the cores.

How long does each core last and does it go out at a specific time of year? I.E summer, fall, winter.

It still gets.56 charge in the cooling system with battery disconnected? Thats still a pretty high voltage.

Heater core lasted 1 month. The problem is now fixed after multiple flushes and and adding fresh coolant. Voltage when hot now is.20 or below.
