I ran a diagnostic scan on my truck and got 2 codes, P0171 and P0174, all my book says is "system too lean left bank" and "system too lean right bank" and I need to know what that means. Or point me in the direction of a website that defines these codes in an understandable way.

Most common cause for these two trouble codes are faulty oxygen sensors. Basically the vehicle's computer is reading an incorrect air to fuel ratior on each cylinder bank (side). You may experience worse fuel mileage out of vehicle while these codes are present. They are located on your vehicle's exhaust system and should be included in your vehicle's routine tune-ups.
