Car quits, speedometer shuts off, have to re-start to get speedometer to work, engine will surge at idle, have changed speed senor control, did not make a difference. What else could it be? Could it be the map sensor? If you know what it could be, could you explain where I would find the part on the engine as well.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Check the fuel pressure and also the idle air control valve /throttle position sensor.

Once I replace the Idle Air Control Valve and/or the Throttle Position Sensor does the car then have to be hooked up to a computer to reset automatically?

Don't be throwing parts to it -inspect/clean/test it-who knows it might not be it. These component are probable causes-to reset just disconnect the battery.
