Grinding noise

2000 Cavalier z-24. When I brake while turning, or take off while turning (either direction) there is a grinding noise at the front of the vehicle. The stearing wheel is not hard to turn and the vehicle does not shake. What are possible problems?

I would say it's time to check the front brakes, and or wheel bearings. Quick!
