I have a 1990 cavalier and recently the heater cpontrols stopped functioning and now the air only blows out of the vents. I took out the controls and I seems that the are controlled electrically and operate by vacuum. Do these cars have a typical problem here and if so where should I be looking? I didn't want to be pulling apart alot of stuff that I didn't need to as the access to the under side of the dash is limited.
Thanks
JT

JT, I too have the same problem with my 91 cavalier.
Unfortunately i have pulled everything out from under the dash and still cannot correct the problem. The dealership does not seem to be very helpful here with the problem either. I will be watching this post for any solutions.
Good luck.

I'll probably be pulling the lower dash stuff out on the weekend and will get back to you with what I find. Rain Foreast and no defrcost sucks!! so I can't put it off any longer.

i had this issue with my 1991 cavalier. There was a vaccum hose that was disconnected. I found it right near my blower motor. There are 3 hoses going into a T and i had one hose disconnected and that was my problem. I would look at that in your engine compartment before you rip apart your dash
