I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier, 97000 miles on a 2.2lt. When driving the car the belt will come off the pulleys and the engine will overheat. Not sure which happens first. What should I do?

The belt coming off happens first. When it does the waterpump is not spinning causing the overheat......Which can cost major bucks if there isn't already damage done. Whelie the belt is off, you need to turn each pully and feel for any looseness. The tensioner may be the likely culprit, bur you need to check.
