I have a 2004 chevy cavalier that runs fine like on the freeway and when I am just driving but whenever I am stopped at a stop light or stop sign or sitting with it idling it acts as if it wants to die the lights go dim and it sputters like it is going to die. Just wondering if you could tell me what could be wrong with the cat.

This is common when you have a vacuum leak or the throttle bore needs to be serviced here are three guides to go over when fixing the problem.

and

and

Please run down these guides and report back.

At 39,000 miles, mine was doing almost the exact same thing. Turned out the fuel pump was going bad. If its not coming up with any codes, have the pump checked out. With mine, no codes popped up, so I took it in to have it checked and thats what happened. Hope this helps!
