I have a 2000 Cavalier. My car had to be jumped, and after the jump, I noticed that my left brake light doesn't work. I replaced the bulb, and it still doesn't work. What else could cause the brake light to malfunction? Could I have shorted something out during the jump? Or could I have just blown a fuse (hopefully)?

the first thing i would do is try one more bulb. make sure it's the same # bulb that you first took out. if it still doesn't work then you'll need to check for power or a bad ground. wiggle the bulb in the socket while someone steps on the brake. chances are you either have a defective (new) bulb or a bad ground in the bulb socket. if it was a fuse then you wouldn't have any brake lights.
