i have a '97 cavalier 2.2L. my check engine light came on so i took it to autozone for them to put it on the computer and they said it was the throttle position sensor and the EGR system. i dont see any performance problems though every website ive read says that you will see problems with the accelleration and shifting. even though i dont see any performance problems do i still need to replace the sensor? if so is that somthing i would be able to do at home?

What were the codes? Letter and numbers ex: p0121...

Were the Codes Hard Codes or Pending Codes? with pending codes you may not notice any performance problems until it becomes a problem leaving you stuck somewere.

With the EGR Sysem check for Vacuum Leak.

You should be able to replace the TPS at home.
