Electrical problem

My 1996 Chevy Cavalier's battery keeps dying. It's a fairly new battery, too. When it died the first time, I assumed I left something on and charged it. I then turned it on and off, made sure everything was off and went back inside. The next day, I tried turning it on but I noticed the battery died again. This time I tried and jump it but the starter just kept clicking. I charged it again and the same deal; starter only clicks and it's probably going to die again (the battery). I noticed some strange things like whenever I step out of the car I get a little shock. I don't know if this is related (this started shortly prior to the battery first dying) or not but please someone help.
