Stalls when brake applied at stop light

stalls when brake applied at stop light. rpm fluctuates. engine idle not running smoothly. told it may be mass air flow sensor. what is that. expensive?

i couldn't find anything on that particular car having a Mass Air Flow Sensor it may be an oxygen sensor or a fuel throttling sensor, although if you are having problems with it idling than you might need to check the Idle Control unit(price is usually around $40.00) picture is shown below
