I have a 1993 caprice that I just purchased and the car is over heating water is running from the water pump. Owner stated that the water pump was replace but needed to be tighten. What is the rreal problem

Sounds like the water pump is bad, since its overheating. If the coolant is coming out near the gasket then the gasket could be bad or improperly tightned but if its coming out around the pulley or a crack then its no good.
