1989 Chevy Caprice V8

I put some gas in my car & drove 4 about 5 mls.& cut the car off 4 about 20 mins.I started the car back up & drove 4 a couple of mls.& it just cut off.I checked 2 see if gas was going to the throttle body while someone tried 2 start it & it wasn't.So I took a hammer & hit the top of the throttle body while someone tried 2 start it & gas started 2 come out.Now gas coming out the throttle body but it won't start.What's wrong?
