1984 Chevy Caprice fast idle, dieseling

Engine problem
1984 Chevy Caprice Two Wheel Drive Automatic 133000 miles

305 engine.
Especially but not exclusively in wet weather, the engine will idle fast for a very long time, leading to dieseling when it is shut down. It will work fine for weeks or even months and then get spells where it does this frequently. Grateful for any advice.

I have emailed some testing info to you. Also check the knock sensor, and wires, Make sure the sensor wire is not routed too close to plug wires!
